A new marketing front for key UK mining service firms and institutions is expected to help promote the sector’s deep expertise and diversity to potential export markets.
The Cornwall Mining Alliance launched by the Camborne School of Mines and University of Exeter’s Environment and Sustainability Institute has nearly 70 member organisations ranging from international mining concerns down to individual consultancies. An online directory, at http://ift.tt/2eGc1HU, promotes the group’s geology, mining and minerals processing, environmental and social impact assessment, and analytical services, research and training, software, and energy, contracting and supply chain services.
About 80 guests at the launch heard that while Cornwall was celebrating its mining heritage in the tenth anniversary year of the Cornish Mining World Heritage site, the Cornwall Mining Alliance was also about highlighting future opportunities.
Directory support came from the Cornish Chamber of Mines and Minerals, Camborne School of Mines and the UK Department of International Trade, which sees development of the region’s mining services export base as a valuable opportunity.
“The Cornwall Mining Alliance website will not only showcase Cornwall’s global expertise but provide an important focal point so that new customers can find our services,” said Bernard Ballard, chairman of the Cornish Chamber of Mines and Minerals.
