(RTTNews) - Mining investment in Peru between January and August 2017 reached US$ 2.833 billion, a 3.8% increase over the same period of the previous year, said the country's Ministry of Energy and Mines. As a result, mining investment in Peru posted its sixth month of continuous growth.
Almost all mining areas had larger investments, such as equipment (+31.7%), exploration (+31.1%), infrastructure (+30.4%), preparation (+23.1%), equipment plant benefit (+12%) and operations (+6.7%).
Meanwhile, Peru's copper production kept a 4.24% growth pace between January and August 2017 when compared to the same period of 2016, reaching 1,590,182 metric tons. At the same time, the extraction of zinc concentrates reached 946,429 metric tons, an 11.16% growth in the annualized comparison.
